How to take this course

  1. Prioritize and do the projects. This means filling out the spreadsheets, opening the accounts on the relevant websites, actually putting in your information, and clicking and typing. Passively reading will do nothing for you.
  2. Read the intros first
  3. Only go into more depth if you want

Goals

This course has three main goals:

  1. To be project-based, practical, and interactive. You'll be clicking around, writing down, and typing through the same tools that I use to manage my own personal finances and have the option to invest the way that I do. Too many personal finance classes are wordy and hard to wade through.

  2. Do first, ask questions later. I want to give you quick rules of thumb to start with. Too much depth, too soon, prevents most people from actually doing the work.

  3. To be question-driven. I've picked the questions that most beginners have about a topic to structure the curriculum.
